A Love Rooted in Purpose and Grown Through Grace

For Avissa Knight, love began in a classroom and bloomed into a lifelong bond.

It was October 2017. Fresh from graduating UC Riverside, Avissa returned to Orange County to complete additional coursework at Irvine Valley College before applying to pharmacy school. It was there that she met John, an Englishman and collegiate tennis player. Their paths crossed one uneventful Saturday morning in anatomy class—and what started as classmates soon turned into confidants, and eventually, soulmates.

On May 7, 2021, John proposed at Treasure Island in Laguna Beach, the very spot Avissa had dreamed of getting married since childhood. That dream came true on September 3, 2023, when they exchanged vows at Rancho Las Lomas—a venue that had etched itself into Avissa’s heart long before she wore the dress.

Today, Avissa works as a pharmacist, while John channels his passion into sports performance as an exercise physiologist. Together, they spend their free time exploring the outdoors and embracing new adventures.
